Infrastructure Engineering Services

Aum provides a full range of planning and engineering services for all facets of infrastructure engineering. Aum draws from its planning and design expertise to lead projects from feasibility through concept development, alternative analysis, preliminary and final design. Our collaborative approach is supported by advanced 3D modelling methods, known as building information modelling (BIM), that allow design teams to share an intelligent virtual project prototype.

Various facets of infrastructure engineering involve:

Earthwork and Site Grading

We have worked on various development projects involving residential, commercial, institutional and mixed use developments. Scope involved using raw survey data to develop existing ground conditions, analyze architect layout for engineering feasibility, develop site grading plan, estimate cut/fill quantities and recommend modifications in order to optimize cut/fill.

Roadway Engineering

We have designed major/minor roads and driveways for private and public developments. Road design involves horizontal road layout, design of horizontal and vertical grades, curves and develop a road alignment and profile.

Traffic Engineering

We perform traffic engineering analysis for design of roads and intersections for vehicular movement within a development. We analyze and design masterplan for movement of transit vehicles, service vehicles and pedestrians. We undertake traffic calming design for residential neighborhoods. We prepare signage plans for residential, commercial and institutional developments.

Public Health Engineering

We undertake projects that require design of major and minor water & sewer distribution / collection network for mixed use developments and integrated townships. We also perform stormdrain system design based catchment area evaluation for all roads and other open areas. We design and

develop site utility plans for water, sanitary sewer and storm drain layout. Develop profiles (L-section) for all utilities indicating any crossings with other amenities such as water, sewer, storm drain, electric, gas and telephone lines.

Electrical Engineering

Our comprehensive services include energy audits, demand assessment, supply and system resilience, utilities consultancy and sustainable electrical engineering design. Our electrical specialists work seamlessly with mechanical and public health engineers to create complete building services solutions. Beyond standard areas of overlap our electrical engineers are creative partners in the design process.

Building Services

Aum offers responsive design services for electric, HVAC, gas, water, sewer, telephone, fiber optic and cable utility lines. Using new technologies and innovative approach to problem solving, we find practical, cost effective solutions to project challenges in the rapidly advancing utilities environment. From the identification of subsurface utility requirements to the development of solutions, our qualified staff of engineers and designers helps our clients to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of their systems. We also provide green building design as a part of our building services module.

Building Information Modeling

Aum is focused on providing Building Information Modeling solutions to our clients. We maintain a team of BIM specialists / project managers and work directly with other architectural firms, consultants, contractors and government institutions. The relationship with our clients is founded on the increasing need for a well-integrated 3D model for coordination purposes including complex geometry visualization and representation, accurate construction documentation, coordination of information and timely recognition of inconsistencies.

Our BIM experts have experience and know-how in a wide range of tools and techniques. Some of these are Revit, Civil3D, Tekla, ArchiCAD, Constructor, Navisworks, SketchUp, 3DMax, AutoCAD and many more.

As a part of our BIM services, we provide services in following capacities.

BIM Content Creation

Aum has a team of experts that can produce high quality BIM content that will function properly and give you what you need to build your firm’s library or complete a BIM model with correct

representation and information without being overly heavy. We have experience in creating content for Architectural, Structural and MEP purposes.

Revit Modeling

Revit has a cutting edge in providing the BIM services in the International Market. We offer our clients value addition by acting as the one stop solution for their pre-construction requirements. We combine the architectural, structural and MEP services and offer our clients a complete pre-construction Revit model of the building.

Civil 3D Modeling

Aum works with clients to model earthwork and heavy civil projects using Civil 3D software. Civil 3D models are created by our civil engineering team to bring to life the designer’s contract drawings. We transform the two dimensional plans into vivid, rich, and accurate renderings from the overall earthwork contours right down to small details like traffic posts and construction parking.

Scan to BIM

At Aum we offer experienced virtual off-site as-built and as-is scan to BIM Revit services to aid Owners, General Contractors, Architects, Municipalities, Manufactures, Engineers, Designers and Drafters and other project stake holders. The professional group at Aum has years of combined experience working in various domains of project development.

Water Resources Management

We provide a full range of water resources services that apply a multi-disciplined approach to watershed assessment, water quantity / quality management and storm water facilities design. Our innovative solutions address challenges ranging from stream restoration, channel relocation and flood control, erosion and sediment control, best management practices, open and closed storm drain design and floodplain studies.

Some facets of the water resources management capabilities have been elaborated below.

Floodplain Analysis, Delineation and Mitigation

Development adjacent to water bodies requires special design consideration in order to account for their impact on each other. Our expertise extends to the use of computer modeling tools including the HEC RAS, TR-20 and TR-55 for an accurate watershed analysis. We perform hydraulic and hydrologic analysis of the watershed contributing to stream flow. Consideration for increased flows, storminess, sea level rise and increasing surface water runoff over the design life of a development are taken into consideration. Impact of 1, 10, 100 year frequency storms are analyzed to develop a floodplain delineation.

Stormwater Management and Rain Water Harvesting Design

Extensive land development has led to various problems that are off-shoots of global warming resulting in acute water shortage in some areas and flooding in others. We have designed stormwater management systems on our projects that ensure the collection and safe conveyance of stormwater from all impervious areas. Detention/retention systems are designed for abatement of peak flood volumes in case of projects close to water bodies and also in case of projects discharging stormwater to already overloaded municipal systems. In locations where a high pollutant load is estimated, treatment systems are designed using filtration, sedimentation techniques.

Dams and Natural Lakes

Creation of natural water bodies by building small to medium size dam like structures can help achieve two goals. Such water bodies can act as flood attenuation structures thereby reducing risk

of flash floods. If water quality within acceptable limits can be achieved, such water bodies can also act as rainwater recharge structures and source of alternative water. We have undertaken projects right from the feasibility stage through design and execution of small to medium projects.
